Things that will always remind me of dad

Clare

Holidays
Lots of them, long drives to the south of France for camping, trips to USA to see the cousins, days out to Sidmouth for a paddle in the sea. Always with his shorts on and a camera around his neck.

Pub visits
A bottle of coke with a straw and a packet of crisps in the beer garden when we were younger, later on in life, a lovely pint of real ale with my dad.

Dustbin mind!
In dad’s words, a mind that if you rummaged about in it long enough you could find any fact you were looking for! He always surprised us with an interesting snippet on a subject you never knew he knew anything about.

Walks
Up the hills, along rivers, over the fields around the village.

Airplanes (see Tom’s post)
Trips to airshows when we were younger, and even watching planes flying over the house from the garden and telling us what they were, where they might be going.

Cats
He loved his moggies, always very contented with a cat on his lap.

Hats
Summer ones, winter ones, and always fun for me to try them on!

Marmalade
On toast with a little bit of butter for breakfast.

Parties in the house
Always with a smile and welcoming lots of people, a true gentleman as many have said.

We will all miss you xx
